« PreviousThis is one article in a series about healthy dog treats. They have all been “Lab”-tested and approved by my dog, Captain.

Three Dog Bakery was started in 1989 by Dan Dye and Mark Beckloff in Kansas City, MO. They couldn’t find any dog treats without additives and artificial ingredients for their dogs Sarah Jean, Dottie, and Gracie, so they baked their own. The company now has more than 30 stores in the US and Canada.

It is “the world’s first full-functioning bakery” for dogs. They use all natural ingredients and DO NOT use salt, sugar, chemicals, artificial preservatives, or animal fat in their products. In addition to treats Three Dog Bakery sells its own brand of dog food and dog and cat supplies.

Most of the treats and the food are available online. But the really fun stuff can only be found in local bakeries. Both the scrumptious-looking soft-baked treats and hard-baked goodies are made with human-grade ingredients. They are sold in the bakery and can be shipped world-wide. Call to personalize one of the hard-baked Large Big Bones with your pup’s name.

What pet party would be complete without a Celebration Cake? They are available in carrot, carob chip, peanut butter, or wheat-free flavors. They, too, are personalizable and shippable. Choose from a 5” round cake or a large or small bone-shaped cake.

To avoid any counter-surfing “accidents” make sure to pick up a recently re-designed treat jar to hold all the goodies you buy for your dog.

Do you need a gift for your favorite dog-lover? Speak with a bakery specialist to make a custom sampler box, designed to fit your budget and your (or your dog’s) tastes.

All of the products made and sold at Three Dog Bakery are unaffected by the current peanut butter recall and are made with certified, salmonella-free peanut butter.

Three Dog Bakery Colorado donates a portion of its profits to The Gracie Foundation.
