Dog named Winston wins family $100,000

WAUSAU, Wis

A Wausau area family is $100,000 richer -- thanks to their pet dog Winston and a contest hosted by Milk-Bone.

The 2-year-old Great Dane was chosen Monday as a spokesdog for Del Monte Foods' Milk-Bone following a contest in celebration of the the snack food's 100th anniversary.

The company says Winston was one of 100 finalists and was the favorite in an online voting contest called Make a Milk-Bone Moment.

Winston is owned by Melisa and Matt Ruppert of Kronenwetter. The husband gave his wife the dog as a gift on their first wedding anniversary.

Christie Fleming of Del Monte Foods says Winston will be featured on some Milk-Bone packaging and take part in several marketing projects this year.
